Creating a XTheme for ExtJS

Today I want to share and propose a project I’m currently working on, this project is about developing a theme for ExtJS 3.0.

Creating a XTheme for ExtJS
Author: Hazel

Recently I’ve been developing a theme for ExtJS, for now I’ve only modify the component “Ext.Window” but soon I hope to have more components, the purpose is to change the aspect of the main components.

The demo

You can try out the demo of the project to see what I’m talking about, I would like to receive your comments and suggestions on the forum or maybe even report bugs you see on any browsers.

Why another theme?

There are many themes for ExtJS, so then why do I need to create another one? Honestly this is the first them I’ve been involved with, so to me it’s a good start to learn how to develop one and is a very good contribution to the community.

I’m sure this theme would be awesome once it’s done and it will be very well accepted by the community.

Can I join this project?

Sure you can! That would be very helpful becasue in that way we can finish the theme faster, I personally don’t have much time to invest on this project, which makes the progress slow.

What do I need to know/do to join?

You can contribute in different ways, let me name some of them:

If you want to help writing code the only thing you need to know is how to use the CSS styles, a software to edit images (Photoshop), it would be very good if you know how to use the SVN because I have the code stored in the SVN of Google.

If you want to help as QA or “Tester” your are more than welcome, we need to test the theme on different browsers, report and document errors and differences between browsers.

If you want to contribute by donating a coffee we would be very grateful! The project will be released with an “Open Source” license so everyone can use it or modify it.

So if you’re interested on joining this project you must register to the forum so we can talk better and send me your “gmail” account to grant you permissions to access the repository in order to be able to modify the code.

When are we going to be able to see the Theme finished?

I don’t really want to set a date, because I’m doing it for fun and I don’t want to stress myself with trying to finish it fast, besides I know that we all are busy with our jobs and other things we’re involve with, so I’ll be waiting for your response.

“There are many themes for Ext JS”

Was that a joke? Hah. Perhaps I’m looking in the wrong places, but I’ve not found many themes at all. Less than a dozen in total and of those only a small handful are polished enough for business use.

Care to share some resources for Ext JS themes? I’m all ears.

    Dear Crysfel,

I tried searching extjs themes too manytimes. But all people do is, they change the “Hue” of images and minor modifications with the css.

But you really worked hard and came up with some thing promising.

    Best of luck,

    Thanks,

    Jaydeep
